Horizon Edition Mi TV 4A, Xiaomi is killing the competition
Mi TV has always been the talk of the town. Especially when it comes to smart TVs the Mi Tvs had very few competitors. The only complaints about the previous editions were thick bezels and little crappier sound quality. But now with the release of the Horizon Edition of Mi TV 4a the game is changed. Let’s digin2 the upgrades the new edition brings.
The design of the Horizon Edition:
The last time the bezels were a bit thicker compared to the OnePlus TV or Realme TV. So this time the Horizon Edition Mi TV 4a has removed that limitation. As you can clearly see in the pic below the bezels are extremely slim now. As of dimensions, the TV is 722mm x 429mm. Wall mounting is my preferable way of using this device. Although the bottom bezel is a little thick housing the MI logo the experience is pretty immersive.
Software experience:
The device runs a patch wall based on Android TV. In my experience, the patch wall interface is way better than the stock android tv UI. Browsing is easier. Even more, it takes fewer steps to get to an icon you want to click. Other than that everything else is pretty much the same. The availability of VOD apps like NetFlix, Prime Video, or Hulu is there. Sideloading apps are also possible. And above all, the play store is available at your hand to download apps of your choice.
There is a Mi Quick Wake feature is also added, that wakes up the system faster than the older generation. So no more waiting for half a minute for the TV to boot up.
Internals of the MI Tv 4a Horizon Edition:
The TV runs a Cortex A53 quad-core processor. Likewise, the Mali 450 GPU is integrated within the SOC. Similarly, 1GB of DDR Ram and 8GB of eMMC storage is given. Don’t expect big numbers here as it’s just a TV, not a smartphone. Most importantly, both the 32 inches and 43 inches of the Horizon Edition come with the same internal specs.
The display:
The picture quality has improved from the prev generation also. The decoder engine can handle H.265, H.264, Real, MPEG1/2/4 formats of videos. The resolution is also improved a bit to 1366 x 738p. This 60Hz 16:9 panel in the Horizon Edition Mi Tv 4a is more than enough to satisfy your visual needs.
Needless to mention Chromecast support, Google assistant support are also there.
Enhanced speakers with DTS HD in Mi TV 4a Horizon Edition:
The speakers of Mi tv 4a Horizon Edition are fine-tuned again this time. Thus the same 2x 10Watt speaker array now sounds louder and clearer. The punchy bass is there likewise. Above all, now the speaker quality is on par with the Realme Tv if not better. So if you’re not that fancy of an audiophile the built-in speakers will just enough for you.
Port Selection:
3x HDMI ports and 2x USB 2.0 ports are there on the back of the device. Other than that there is also a 3.5mm audio jack. One of the HDMI port can also pass audio. The old-school AV ports are also present at the same port array.
Additoinally another Ethernet port is also there if you dont want to connect the TV via Wifi. And then there comes the Antenna Port. Frankly, who uses the AV and Antenna ports anymore? I wonder.
And that’s pretty much it for the Mi Tv 4a Horizon Edition. Speakers come with DTS-HD. Bezels are even slimmer. And the software experience is a bit better. With these tiny upgrades now the Mi TV is best among its competitions that is to say. The 32 inches costs ₹13,999. Similarly, the 43 inches version comes at ₹23,499 for the 1080p FHD screen.
